  • Leopard’s Leap Wines was conceptualised at the turn of the century by winemaker and businessman, Hein Koegelenberg.

    With guidance from his late father-in-law, internationally-renowned business leader, Dr Anton Rupert.

    Initially created for the export market in the United Kingdom, Leopard’s Leap has since rapidly gained an international reputation for providing excellent quality wines at affordable prices.

    Pinotage/Shiraz

    Wine Style:

    An authentic South African New World blend that is fruit-driven and full-bodied.

    Bouquet:

    A unique blend of blackcurrent, ripe plum and spice beautifully balanced by a touch of toastiness from the oak.

    Tasting notes:

    An array of complex flavours that settle with deeper notes of pepper, mocha and dark fruit. A firm structure ushers in a memorable finish

    Food suggestions:

    Pair with richly flavoured pork and duck dishes.

    Blend information: 51% Pinotage, 49% Shiraz.

    Chenin Blanc

    Variety 100% Chenin Blanc Style A medium to full-bodied wine made in a refreshing New World style. Palate A lively combination of herbs and ripe summer fruit sustained by a firm acidity and a dry, lingering finish. Nose Prominent guava aromas are supported by flavours of litchi and mango, with a subtle herbaceous undertone. Alcohol 13% Sugar 2,26 g/l Acidity 6,39 g/l pH 3,45 Vinification Grapes came from Perdeberg in the Agter-Paarl region. Harvested at optimum ripeness, whole-bunch pressed, settled and fermented at 14°C with extended lees contact.

    Sauvignon Blanc

    A fresh, crisp, medium-bodied wine made in a New-world style.

    Bouquet:

    Upfront tropical fruit aromas with playful undertones of green fig and grapefruit.

    Tasting notes:

    A firm yet elegant structure with fresh, crisp pear and citrus flavours that lead to a zesty after-taste.

    Food suggestions:

    This refreshing wine with a prominent acidity will pair well with sushi, asparagus and seafood dishes with South East Asian flavours such as lime, chili and coriander.

    Chardonnay

    Grand Vin

    Grand Vin is a Bordeaux-style blend with complex layers.

    Aromas of dark ripe plum and fruit cake blend beautifully with whiffs of cocoa.

    The firm, elegant structure of this wine provides an interesting base for food-and-wine pairing.

    Blend information: 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, 21% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec.

    Merlot

    Bouquet:

    Prominent red fruit aromas of mulberry and dark plum with subtle hints of toasted almonds and nutmeg.

    Tasting notes:

    Rich and sumptuous with soft, juicy tannins that create a velvety aftertaste that lingers.

    Food suggestions:

    Enjoy this Merlot with herb crusted rack of lamb, smoked pork fillet and for the more adventurous, experiment with dark chocolate inspired desserts.

    Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

    Wine Style:

    Full-bodied, New World, gently wooded. Bouquet: Intriguing aromas of blueberry, chocolate and cassis, supported by soft undertones of wildflowers and soft fruit scents.

    Tasting notes: Full-round dark fruit characteristics join subtle oak flavours to create a silky and elegant palate experience.

    Food Suggestions: Serve with flavourful meat dishes such as veal and pork accompanied by aromatic mushroom and herb flavours.

    Blend information: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot.
