South African Fine Wine Dinner

Join us for an evening of culinary and vinous delights as we present our first-ever South African Fine Wine Dinner at the picturesque Angelo’s Cabarita in Sydney.

📅 Date: Wednesday, 12th March 2025
⏰ Time: 6:30 PM
📍 Location: Angelo’s Cabarita, Prince Edward Park, Phillips St, Cabarita NSW 2137

Indulge in an expertly curated 7 course menu, paired with some of South Africa’s finest wines. We managed a sneak peak at Executive Chef Dalton Fernandes notes after our planning meeting, and whilst it closely resembled a doctors handwriting, we could make out that Oysters, Rooibos smoked Kingfish Crudo and a modern take on Bunny Chow would be in the mix. When we pressed for more info, specifically around the meat selections - we were told to expect some extremely tasty dishes with a solid focus on traditional flavours... but to focus on the wine and leave the food to the experts!

The Wines being opened include:

  • Boschendal Methode Cap Classique Brut NV served with Coffin Bay Oysters with Caviar.
  • Ladybird Chardonnay 2022 (Formerly Laibach Vineyards) served with Flame Grilled Peri-Peri Chicken, roast potatoes, spiced butternut pumpkin puree.
  • Stellenrust Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc 2022(Trophy Winner - Global Fine Wine Challenge 2023) served with Rooibos Smoked Kingfish Crudo, lemongrass, coco nut milk and kaffir lime.
  • Meerlust Rubicon 2021 (98 Points - Tim Atkin MW) served with Eye Fillet Steak, gem squash, broccolini and salad mix with a red wine jus.
  • Kanonkop Estate Pinotage 2017From Magnums (94 Points - Tim Atkin MW) served with Traditional Grabouw Boerewors, Pap and Tomato Smoor.
  • Rust en Vrede Estate Shiraz 2021 (92 Points - Decanter) served with Bunny Chow - Manjits Lamb Curry served in brioche buns.
  • Nederburg Private Bin Edelkeur 2007 (IWSC GOLD Medal)  stock sourced directly from the Nederburg Auction Private Cellars served with Milk Tark with fresh seasonal berries  (alternating)
  • + A surprise superstar Red blend

This wine dinner promises a night of exquisite flavours, captivating stories behind the wines, and a celebration of South Africa’s rich winemaking heritage.
