On Friday, 29 November 2024, the Wits Australia Foundation marked a significant moment with its inaugural Gala Luncheon. The event brought together alumni, friends, and supporters of Wits University, celebrating a shared commitment to education, innovation, and community development.
The luncheon was graced by the presence of Professor Zeblon Vilakazi FRS, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of the Witwatersrand, who served as the guest of honour. His leadership and vision for Wits University as a powerhouse of academic excellence and innovation provided an inspiring backdrop to the event.
Adding further prestige to the day, keynote addresses were delivered by two esteemed Wits alumni—Gail Kelly and Stephen Koseff. These luminaries have made extraordinary contributions on both local and global stages, reflecting the transformative power of a Wits education.
Proceeds from the luncheon will directly fund Wits University Postgraduate Scholarships and Bursaries, empowering academically deserving students to achieve their dreams. These scholarships provide critical financial support, covering tuition and living expenses, allowing students to focus on their studies and aspire to create positive change in their communities and beyond.
