Featured winery - Stellenrust Wines

Stellenrust Wine Estate located in Stellenbosch, South Africa was established in 1928 and has produced superb quality wines ever since.

The Estate is 400ha in size, with approx. 200ha planted to vines. Half of the vineyard stretches over an area known as the “Golden Triangle” of Stellenbosch, internationally recognised as some of the best red wine soil in South Africa. The other half of the vineyard is situated high up in the Bottelary Hills, renowned for its cool climate and late afternoon sea breezes swooping in from Cape Town to nurture both excellent white and red wines.

The Estate is run by brothers Tertius Boshoff (winemaker) and Kobus van der Westhuizen (viticulturist), who are committed to following their father’s dream.

As a Fairtrade producer, Stellenrust Estate boasts one of the most successful Black Economic Empowerment projects in South Africa. This has resulted in 70 employees taking ownership of the land they farm. Tertius says: “These are the men and women we grew up with, we played together when we were young and now we work together towards the same dream and goal.” This lead to the production of the JJ Handmade wines, using no machinery and only the free running juice collected through gravity flow and of which total production reached about 500 cases.

Stellenrust Wine Estate is a very modern tasting facility that combines Cape Dutch, Art Deco and African themes to a confluent majestical sight with great views over Table Mountain, Helderberg and Stellenbosch mountains as well as the fairest Cape.

Stellenrust is one of the largest family-owned wine estates in South Africa with generations of winemaking skills and the legacy of our motto ‘where excellence meets winemaking’ put forward in every bottle.
